Prayer

A Prayer for Rest After a Hard Day

Close a painful day with truth, mercy, and permission to pause.

A still lake at dusk beneath a blue-gray sky

Close a painful day with truth, mercy, and permission to leave tomorrow's repair for tomorrow.

Pray tonight

Merciful God, this day was hard. I will not pretend that pain, disappointment, or exhaustion was smaller than it felt. Receive what happened and the emotions I do not yet understand. Where I caused harm, lead me toward honest repair. Where I was harmed, guide me toward safety, boundaries, and wise support. Thank you for the small mercies that did not disappear even in difficulty. I cannot finish every conversation or recover every loss tonight. Help me accept that healing and problem-solving take time. Hold what remains unresolved, and let tomorrow bring enough light for its own next step. Amen.

Read and reflect

Read Lamentations 3:19-26 in BibleAlong's Scripture reader. Notice the movement of the whole passage before returning to the concern you named in prayer. Let the biblical context guide your trust rather than treating one line as a guarantee.

Reflect before resting

  • What am I ready to place in God's care tonight?
