Spiritual Encouragement

Bible Verses When You Feel Far From God

Feeling far from God does not mean God has left you. Sometimes distance comes from shame, exhaustion, disappointment, church hurt, or simply a long season of silence. The Bible is full of people who cried out from that exact place.

Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” This verse does not say God is only near to people who feel strong. It says He is near to the brokenhearted.

Luke 15:20

The father saw the son while he was still far off and ran toward him. Jesus gives us a picture of God moving toward the one who is coming home slowly, imperfectly, and honestly.

James 4:8

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” Drawing near can begin with one sentence, one verse, or one honest prayer.

You do not have to fix everything before returning to God. You can come as you are and start with a simple prayer: “God, I feel far away, but I want to come back.”
